These large Jays hopping around, making near crash landings on branches and intimidating almost evrey bird in sight make them like the chimps of the bird world. Yankee soldiers during the civil war were often refered to by southerners as Jay Birds because of their blue uniforms and black cap chin straps and irritating manner.

    Bill,

You have a solid shot of a Blue Jay here, Stellar's range starts near the mountain west.

Regarding the shot, the bird is placed a little too much in the center, the whites seem just a bit hot to me. My other nit would be the back ground is a little too cluttered for me with that red blob to the right. Maybe closer to f8 or lower would help break that up more.

Nits noted. I might try and soften the background and remove the red. It is a bit busy. I have found that I need f/11 to get adequate resolution with this lens. Thanks for your comments.

Fill flash would have helped here, Bill, the face is a bit in the shade because of the light direction.
