White Pelican - different environment

We are accustomed to seeing these birds against blue sky or blue water, since that is their typical environment, but this shot shows another habitat that is a little different. The Salton Sea is a very large salt lake in the middle of a desert, and gives an opportunity to see this bird against desert foliage and landscape. The coloration in the white plumage is usually seen during breeding season.
