    Default Hosta in IR

I had my 20D converted to colour IR and had fun shooting this hosta in IR before the grubs chew them all up. Haven't been around for a while. I hope to post more regularly. Comments welcomed.

Hi Jackie, I'm so glad to see you! This is very nice, love your composition with the tight perspective and slightly off-center position. The colors are wonderful and give the illusion that these leaves are a bloom. I do hope to see more of your images; your work is always top-notch.

    Jackie,

    Nice image. Lovely patterns.

I am interested in IR, but know very little. I see there are all sorts of conversions that cover different wavelengths. WHich conversion was this? Also, who did the conversion, and were you happy with their service? Did you have to do much post processing on this image, or were these colors pretty much right out of the camera?

Sorry for all the questions, but some day I want to have an old body converted.

    Thanks.

Hi Mitch, I had my camera converted by Life Pixel to Super Colour IR. If you check their website from time to time they have specials and you can get 25 percent off. I went with colour rather than black and white, because I thought I could do black and white with other images. http://www.lifepixel.com/infrared-filters-choices This will give you an idea of what you can do. I noticed there is a tutorial in OOTB for converting your RAW file, and I also have one on my website in the blog section. (www.jackieschuknecht.com) This is also a good link too for more information http://khromagery.com.au/ir_raw.html. I think if I had to do it over again I would have used a better camera than my old Canon 20D. Converting your images takes a while to get the hang of. And if you shoot, the camera likes water, sky, and anything with chlorophyll in it. If you have any more questions, I would be happy to send you a PM if you'd like. Life Pixel did a great job, you mail your camera in and basically they change the sensor in a dust free environment.

Hi, Jackie, it's great to see you in OOTB again. I've always loved your creativity and this image is a good example of it. I had my 30D converted to black and white IR by Life Pixels and like you, I wish I'd used a better camera. I'm thinking about getting an IR filter and using it on my 5D. I hope we see lots more of your images here

Glad to see you posting here! The colors are beautiful and they do make it look like a flower rather than leaves. Very creative!
