    Default Common Loon

Hello all, Well it's been a busy year with not a lot of photography time...I finally got out in the kayak for a bit on the last couple of weekends and visited my favorite loon lake about an hour from home in the southern interior of BC. The pair on this lake were not nesting yet (which is a bit late), so they were fairly relaxed and afforded some nice photo ops. C & C always welcome and appreciated. Thanks for looking!

    Sorry, forgot the exposure data

    Killer image.
In a perfect world, the light and dark BG would be reversed.
Great low angle and superb IQ.

Awesome low angle Bruce and the light lit this one up perfectly. I might be tempted to reduce the whites a fraction as it might be just me but I feel they are competing for my attention.

Well done. low angle works well here and the detail is stunning. Maybe a bit of clockwise rotation???

    Bruce:

Lovely, intimate look at my favorite subject. Great shooting angle, nice iridescent sheen, angle of bird in frame.

I could see softening the dark lines in the ripples that touch the neck. On my work monitor, it looks like it could use a point or two more blacks, but I will check it again on my home monitor tonight.

I will be heading out soon for loons, so thanks for the warm up image!

    cheers

    Randy

superb image! lovely low angle with good exposure & IQ. maybe toning down the whites on the chest might help.

Nice low angle, exposure, water drops on the face. Good details too. Perhaps a bit big in the frame, but its nice to see a nice close-up like this.
