Default Semipalmated - small in frame

While waiting for this Semipalmated to get closer, I decided to go for some "small in the frame" shots. I remember reading that for these types of shots, it's nice to put the subject very far to one corner, so for this image I cropped a little from the right. I almost wish I would have also shot him in the top right corner, giving him lots of room to walk to, but I do like the color of the water here - even if subtle.

In post, I cleaned up the fg a tad, removing some distracting pebbles.

    Shooting Info:
    Nikon D800 | 500 f/4 +1.4
    1/1000" | f/7.1 | ISO 800

Very creative and pleasing with the pastel colors. I think it needs a bit of cw rotation and I personally would consider moving the plover into the frame slightly. Good job in seeing and creating something unusual.

Just move a bit into the frame, per Grace's comment, and this works very well.
Pastel color and DOF is perfect.

Love it. This comp may not work for a more colorful bird, but for this black and white, its just lovely. It has a dreamy quality and yet there are enough details on the water. Well done. Loi

I also like this one Miguel, simple and dreamy background makes the plover "float" in the space, well done

What a beauty Miguel, i love the over all tones in this image so soft and soothing to the eye.
The bird is nicely placed and it works fantastically, i love it.

In case you see it next time, i may be tempted to go a bit above the level and get more of the reflection, just imagine what it will do to such a image if there is a reflection, will look like a mirror . Just a suggestion you may try since the conditions here look perfect.

I find this to be a very visually pleasing photo. While simply, there is a lot of interest and the color palate is quite special. Your water line, while subtle, has a lot of interest/impact here.

Love it. Your low angle created that wonderful dreamy effect and the raised foot seems to balance it well.
