Sorry I haven't been posting much--I've been enjoying the lovely spring weather.
I took this photo last evening, outdoors, handheld, 105mm macro, f5, 1/640, ISO 250.
Processed in Elements 10: Topaz Adjust Clarity and Mild Color Pop, Topaz DeNoise; added a texture by Coffee Shop.
I'm unsure of this image. I look forward to your honest comments.
    Thanks!

I love the texture on the BG and leaf/stem. The focus fall-off across the flower works well for me. Maybe a tiny bit more tonal detail in the flower? I'm not sure about that, though -- you don't want to loose the delicacy.

HI Anita.....honestly , the bg color seems too muddy for such a beautiful white flower. Also, more depth of field may have helped define this huge flower head more.....just my opinion!

Thanks. I went back and forth re. tonal detail in the flower. Appreciate your input.

Thanks. I wanted your honest opinion, otherwise, how will I grow as a photographer? I see what you mean about the bg color. I'll try different colors.

Hi Anita - it's a beautiful flower. I think if this were mine, I might try lightening the background a bit. With such a delicate flower, i think a "softer" background might be more appealing. I would also try cropping slightly from the right.

Thanks, Maureen. I think you are right--the delicate flower needs a delicate bg. I'm going to work on it more.

Hi Anita, good comments above and I agree about the crop. I don't see a need for the negative space on the right, but that's just an opinion of course. The peony is a very large flower, and a bit more depth of field would help in my opinion. I don't see these flowers much since I left Indiana, where they were plentiful - so much so that it is the state flower.

Very pretty Anita, great detail in the whites, and has a very painterly feel.
