awesome composition and lovely lighting, loved the background as well, head position could have been better (if you could tell it to turn its head that is) :)

Rudi, the IQ looks very good. what a bird. and that awesome GC BG. do you have some more nice BG at the bottom? I think that will help.

Hi Rudi! A beautiful image of this awesome avian species. I would also like a bit more space at the bottom, just enough for the subject to look into. The colours are fantastic and nice detail on the bird, great IQ!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Thanks for the great feedback guys! Yip, the space at the bottom also bothered me, but I do not have it! The lines in the BG will make it difficult to add some canvas, but I am sure I will have one amongst the 1500+ images that I have taken on the trip. Was just maybe to excited to post an image before I worked through the rest, as the eye contact here was awesome...! But watch this space...

Hi Rudy, I like the comp as is. You handled the exposure very well, especially the underwing (have no idea how you got it so nice). Tack sharp. In an ideal world, one would like to see the other eye more, but the head angle is fine for me as the bird clearly looked towards you. I like the BG with some clouds. Well done.

    I love the GC BG.
I agree that a bit more canvas below would be nice. Did you try Photoshop content fill aware? Sometimes it works wonderfully and sometimes not. Worth a try!
    Personally, I love the HA,

excellent image with great IQ & BG.
As poined by Kaustubh, would have liked some space below where the bird seems to be looking.

Cracker of a shot mate. Add some canvas on the bottom via Photoshop, usually works well with this background. Mooiloop!

I don't mind the tight crop here, the bird is so wonderful. But Content-Aware Fill might work well. You don't need much added space. Just watch it -- sometimes it does posterization, which can be smoother out with the Clone tool.

If you could lighten the right side of its face it would bring out that other eye more. But it's a wonderful image as is!
