I have a ton of images of this guy. Here is another—he is carrying a sculpin—bottom fish that gets trapped at low tide in the oyster beds.

Great shooting angle, excellent details and I really like the green in the background, Bonnie.

Good shot, Bonnie, very sharp, good exposure, wing position. How's the AF working for you with that combo?

What a dynamic pose and determined look! Love the upturned wingtips. Great image!

Thank you, Loi. Well—that is the reason I switched to the 1DX to drive this combo faster than the 5DIII. It is by far the best AF I have ever used and that is coming off of the 1DIV and 500/L. It is all I need. I have so many keepers from this 10 minute shoot—mostly inflight. These images are nearly full frame, so things were happening very fast as the bird took off and came by me—I was not disappointed in what I captured.
Any shortcomings that may be there are made up for the ease of moving around and the versatility of the set up. I am getting tired of lugging the big guns around. I keep waiting to miss the 500/4, but so far I am happy with this.

    Very nice IQ,
I hope you have one showing the Sculpin.
Interesting and different setting for the Eagle.

Thanks, Dan. Yes, I have many with the Sculpin. I’ll post one next time around.

It's nice to see an eagle that's not against a blue or white sky for a change. I am really loving the pose and the environment here. Details look awesome.

    Hi Bonnie,
Excellent frame, love how close he is flying and the expression

    sharp.

congrats on purchase on the 1DX, I agree with everything you say. I was also impressed how fast the AF is with the 2X III on my 600, not to mention the excellent IQ.

I have to agree with Marina on the refreshing change here of the typical eagle image on a clean bg. The environment here is very interesting and I love the angle you shot the eagle at. Great detail and topside view
