I wasn't going to post this one as I feel the slow shutter speed made this one a bit soft for my tastes.......this battle ended with both walking away unscathed. Man if I only had the morning light come out!!! A bit bettter HA on the Ruddy would have been great too. It is the near misses that keep me going out for more!

I like the interaction Roman but both the bird and the crab look soft to me, it seems you tried to sharpen but that has made them grainy. I also liked he HA better in your last shot.

I agree Arash! I knew my SS wasn't fast enough.....looking at the sand.....DOF appears on......but both were moving during the confrontation.......this is the one that got away!

Hi Roman, I can relate to not enough ss - pity, the action is well captured.

Very interesting action like the crab defending himself, as mentioned above sharpness could have been better.

    Roman:

The head on view of the crab defending itself is great. If the crab was razor sharp, you certainly could have gotten away with the bird less so.

Interaction pictures are plane tough, esp. in iffy light. I can't tell you how many loon images I have deleted of chick and parent interaction, when I just didn't have enough light to get the needed shutter speed and DOF,even with the D4 and the ISO cranked up.

Like you say, it keeps you going back!

    Cheers

To me even though it is soft its still a great image to have.
The interaction is excellent and I like the view of the crab.
    Well done.

Fun shot, Roman, although I prefer the first. I like seeing the frontal view of the crab and the bird's reaction. Seeing some noise all around.
