This owl is fresh out of a nest box, very young. I cropped this about 60%. C&C welcome.

PS. I used a better beamer at -2 tops fill and so had to remove a little red eye.

I am loving what you have done here, Dan. You managed to convey the innocence of this baby and capture it hidden in its environment in what I consider a very pleasing and amusing way. Not an easy shoot, and you made the most out of it.

Hi Dan, nicely nestled amongst the foliage, and you have captured a great angle here. Good use of flash, and an opportunity well used.

This captures the way we usually see these guys (if we're lucky enough to see them at all). Flash dealt with the tough lighting conditions nicely.

Dan, beautiful capture here. The owl is sharp and the surround green leaves are very pleasing. Good use of flash here. I find the bottom leaves and sky are just a wee bit bright, but overall a great image. Well done. Loi

Very cool! Lots of bright spots but seems to work anyway. Are the eyes usually more yellow/orange? I don't know about screech owls, but if they are it might look good with more iris color but not if it's not an authentic color for the species.

Thanks all! Jim, the eyes are about what you see here. I did brighten them a tiny bit.

This is a very cool shot the way the owl is hiding in the foliage. The owl is well lit and sharp.

Those were very tough conditions you had, but you dealt with them fine. Fill-flash used nicely. I'm not a fan of blown sky peeking through foliage but I do love the vulnerability you portrayed here.
