    Default Downy female

probaby the most common of all the woodpeckers in my yard, but cute nonetheless. This year it looks like there are three pairs vying for resources. I think I finally got the exposue right for the B&W feathers.

    Jim:

Your downy is sharp, well exposed with good detail in the darks. I like the large trunk behind for background.

The large, out of focus portion of the branch against the lighter background is a bit distracting. Not something you can control directly, but something to consider when working on the image in camera.

What camera and lens were you using? (That info always helps us understand the shot better)

    Cheers

    Jim:
Beautiful image of downy with nice colors and details.
Perch is too big for the size of bird.I have modified the image in order to reduce impact of perch.
I hope you will like it.

Nice portrait. I like Satish's crop. Might even take a little more off the top.

Great pose, IQ is great, and well exposed.
    I really like Satish's crop.
    Well done.

Hi Jim, well exposed, and I like how the woodpecker head is following the line of the perch. Randy hit the high note regarding the OOF part of the perch, and Satish has come up with a great crop suggestion.

Thanks! I really debated about the crop so good to know a vertical works better. Here's the repost. I did adjust the color a bit as it seemed a bit greenish/yellow.

Very nice image of this lady bird. I actually prefer the OP to the repost, which is far too cramped
imo. In terms of a "natural setting" I find the image successfull.

  9. Thanks Jim Thomas thanked for this post
