    Default Drake Green- winged Teal

Took this last winter at my local beach estuary when the migrant waterfowl were in my area pretty thick. Due to the nice winter temperatures and being in the the pacific coastal flyway, we get a good number and variety of waterfowl each year.
Even though the light has caught the secondaries and turned them blue, they are green at a different angle. Hope you like it.

Thanks as always for looking and for your input. Appreciated

    David:

Wonderful light, with very vivid colors, nice angle in the frame.

    Like the full down pose.

In a perfect world, enough dof to cover the rear wing would have been nice.

A little tight in the frame for my tastes.

    Cheers

Gorgeous colors and excellent detail ... perfectly executed!
Nice flight angle and great wing position on near wing ... wish more of far wing was visible.

    David,
another superb flight photo, you are killing these.
I do think you crop a bit tight for me.
As good as the details are, they would be even better for me with a bit more room around them.
The far wing doesn't bother me at all, hard enough to get the sharpness you get on these very fast flying ducks.

David, another superb flight image. I never knew how beautiful ducks are until I saw your images here. Agreed with the others tat the crop is a bit tight. Love the light, details, odor, and nice water blue BG.

Thanks everyone for the comments, appreciated.
I crop allot of shots that are sharp and have a plain BG a bit tight to focus on the details in the subject. I actually had this one cropped looser until I decided to post it. Here is the crop that I started with.
Probably should have left it alone.
    Your thoughts?

In my opinion, the looser crop is superior. Room to breathe, etc., and as for the bird: Jeepers! Well done, manzo!

Hi David, you are nailing these guys so well. Love the light, which in turn has brought out the colours very well, sharp, and pane # 13 works for me.

Works much better with the room around. This is a tough one to nail. Pat yourself on the back...what a shot. great colors, sharpness and angle of the bird.

The blue water looks a bit oversaturated.

The last crop is the ticket, excellent light and you nailed the detail on the duck. I really like the subtle tones in the BG.
