    Default A Simple Composition

This is a common bird around the water bodies in my area, the open billed stork. The bill as you can see is having a gap which is used by these birds to crush the snails .

Was made from a boat with a monopod

Hi Vishal, its strange how we take our local visitors for granted, whilst others are falling over each to get just one shot. I like the soft light in this, feather detail shows up nicely, although I would selectively sharpen the head. Great view of the 'open' bill, and Im glad you left the few blades of grass in the water. I feel you could maybe boost the contrast on the stork. Hope you dont mind, here is my version with some tonal contrast on the stork only. I also selectively sharpened the head and bill.

Great sighting Vishal, and great capture! Stuart's enhancement certainly does justice to this wonderful image. I only wish you had a bit more space in the foreground- even though the legs of the subject are not visible, somehow I wish the image would allow for the full length of the legs...

    Kind regards

Thanks Stuart for the tips , i tried to incorporate it in the image , just as a learning lesson so that i may get it right the next time

Added some sharpening to the head and the beak, increased the contrast for the image and added 8 points of black

Vishal, your final post looks great and sharpened up the head nicely. The contrast boost helped too. Nice shot.

    Very nice shot.
Exposed very well, great feather detail, I really like the grass blades, and love the nice calm water.
Stuart's repost really took this already great shot up a notch.
    Well done.
