Hi
I stumbled across this site last night while trying to identify a bird that I saw yesterday and I was extremely impressed with the photo's I saw here. Simply amazing !!!!
I'm new at this bird stuff but I really like it. Maybe some day I'll get some of that really nice long glass that I see some folks here using but for now I use a 2x tc on my 70-200 f/2.8. It doesn't always get me where I need to go but I am still having fun and that's what it is all about for me. Well that and the exercise from walking a few miles a week to get to the birds. I sit behind a desk all day so any time spent outdoors is a wonderful thing.
Hi Bill and welcome to BPN!! That's great how you stumbled onto our site and I hope you enjoy being here. There is so much to learn from some truly amazing and talented photographers . I recommend you start posting images for critique and keep an open mind to suggestions. I agree about the exercise and we do get a lot of it. Maybe some day you'll get your long glass but it is not a required piece of equipment for getting a good shot. We all have to start somewhere. Look forward to your input here.
Welcome to BPN, BIll. I am from Milton, MA originally. Not sure where Hanson is. Looking forward to seeing some of your images. You don't need long glass to make good images. I shot with a 300 and then a 400 for a # of years before going for the bigger lens.
Hanson is a small town about 30 miles south of Boston. It is the former home of Ocean Spray Cranberry Co. The area I go birding was their cranberry bog (Bog 18), it was the largest cranberry bog in the world at one time. Now it is a wildlife management area known as Burrage Pond and The Great Cedar Swamp. There are a lot of interesting things to see there :)
Welcome. It looks as if your avatar image is well underexposed.... Busted already!
