The light on this is simply gorgeous! The foreground and
    background aren't to shabby either.

Over here we do not consider herons "shorebirds" so different types of habitat are rather normal for us to see them in. I love all the reds in the surroundings...those who have visited (or live in) Prince-Edward Island will find the colours familiar. I do find the subject itself a bit light, but I like the pose, low angle, sharpness. Of course there had to be a a piece of mud between the feet eh!

The nice for- and background colour makes the bird pop. Nicely composed.

I would like to see this from a slightly....and I do mean slightly higher perspective to eliminate the OOF foreground......but the BG makes up for that!

I haven't seen many shots of this bird....and this one is splendid. loved the low angle, the light, the surroundings, sharpness. everything really. Well done. Composition, size and placement of the subject are also very good. Thanks for sharing.

Love the color palette Girish. Was this species formerly called "Western Reef Heron." I am with Dan in that the subject is too bright. Thanks a stack for your membership support.

Hi Daniel - As mentioned by you, we also have a lot of egret & heron species which inhabit the inland urban & rural landscapes. However, this particular
specie is a inhabitant of the "coastal" areas & that's why i mentioned it as a "shorebird". And, thanks for your feedback on the image.

Thanks Girish. There was once one on the East Coast of the US. I did not see it.
