With a few minutes at hand, and a few Chipping Sparrows singing in the area I knew I could do a quick ground set-up and lure these guys for a pose or two. Grabbed a rock from the garden, put the speaker just in front of it Time taken from setting up to wrapping up the session...about 10 minutes. Not bad for a bit of free time at home! I do wish it would have perched on the nearer part of the rock, but they seem to be quite willing tp participate...another session is likely in store

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, natural light, handheld, 1/800s., f/5.6, ISO 800, FF, darkened pupil and lightened iris. Darkened some areas of the rock. NR to the background. Audio used.

The sparrow looks great, I am sure you will try again and get the bird to the near part of the perch.

Wonderful detail and pose Daniel you might want to try cropping from the bottom getting rid of some of the OOF rock

    Hi Daniel,
Wonderful details with a nice pose. Agree with cropping from bottom as an alternative.

Thanks guys. I kinda like the grass in botn lower corners...but in hindsight a bit of a crop below would not hurt.
