Does anyone have an explanation of the beak? It seems strange or rare to me. The big question: How it catch food??
Took it this morning, Israel south. I know he his on the way from Africa to Europe.
    Canon Mark IV 300mm with TC 1.4 1/4000 f9 1600ASA HH blind.
From RAW to JPG, crop about 25% from original.

Thank you for every answer and comments.

The beak appears to be broken....neat perch and nice background, wish he was facing toward you.

That is one pretty good looking perch, and the BG is just perfect for this image. I am seeing some noise in your BG and maybe a little in the bird which is an easy fix. Is this the normal beak for this species of bird? I like this pose b/c it shows off that unique beak.

Thank you but, the size of the beak has to be like the lower one. The upper is too long!

    Haim:
Beautiful picture of Blackcap. Love the pose, colors, nice perch with green moss,BG and nice composition.
The beak, upper part is grown more as compare to lower one.I have seen and photographed few birds with such deform beak.
However they carry their normal feeding.

    Regards,
    Satish.

Hello Haim! A very interesting photo of this little bird, and I would agree with Satish in saying the top part of the beak is somewhat overgrown. Somehow the little chap seems to manage, despite his deformity. The perch is amazing, love the colours and textures- I too detect a bit of noise in the background on the bottom of the image but you could easily fix that just by blurring a bit. Interesting find, lovely image!
