    Default Yellow Warbler.

I see this species very often and it is very common during the summer months, but this was my first time in a few years getting some good pictures of one...they are not usually so cooperative (at least for me)! A rather basic bird on a stick image, but I like it. In case you missed it...for a unique ground-level view of this species check out Jim Crosswell's awesome photo that he posted earlier this week here

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/640s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, my usual eye-work, darkened some areas of the perch, small crop for composition.

Dan, this is not a basic bird on a stick image, but a CLASSIC! Clean image, with lovely details, colors and BG. I like the eye contact and HA. Well done.

This is lovely. Hey, birds DO perch on sticks! And I love yellow ones.

Wonder if there's just a little more detail in the yellows, though?

Lovely in its simplicity. Both you and Jim did this species proud.

This is beautiful! the pose, colors, sharpness & DOF are all perfect.
All the warbler species we have here are dull & drab.

    Daniel,

Some stunning colors on this guy. Well captured with the new equipment (can't wait to see what else this lens gives you an opportunity to do!).

The subtle detail in the eye does it for me. I've tried different methods of bringing out the iris while keeping the pupil dark and have yet to settle on a go to. Nicely done!

A real stunner, Daniel. Simple yet strong. Especially like the pose and the right foot/leg being so visible.

Hi Dan, firstly, you have nailed those striking yellows so well, and pretty much nailed the sharpness too. Good DOF on the warbler, and posed nicely against that killer BG. Well captured.

Sharp detail and nicely exposed Daniel, backdrop is silky smooth as well. I wonder if a slightly different comp may be possible by rotating CCW in order to give the stick more of a slant

A bit late but had to tell you that this is one of the best shots of this species I have seen. From the expossure to the detail, this one is awesome. The pose and the BG set this bird off nicely. Very nice Daniel
