    Default Great Horned Owl

    Stoney Creek, Ontario, Canada

    Nikon D300 ,Nikkor 200-400mm f/4G ED-IF AF-S VR
    1/200s f/5.6 at 380.0mm iso250

hand held, natural light, 80% of ff

Taken through the sunroof of my F150, this bird came out of some woods, and stopped by on its way to the nest for a short visit., I was able to run the truck up the road to get close enough for a few shots, but it sure didn't stay long., and the sun was almost gone at this point.

I like the pose, the perch, and the high key BG. A little PS work would make this a stronger image IMO; a little added brightness to the bird would make a difference. My repost is a different size than yours because you exceeded the maximum 800 pixel dimension limit.

Raymond you did a fine job under very difficult lighting and circumstances. Great pose to get him out in the open like that and wonderful eye contact. Congratulations on a fine image. I like Doug's repost.

I prefer the original post my self. I love the intense stare. I think it wants to eat you.

thanks everyone... thanks for your efforts too Doug, very much appreciated., I am sorry, I did forget abot this one being 900 wide, as I usually set mine up at 800 wide, and went for a more pano look here.

I agree, my image is a bit dark, and with the very white blah bg, it does need a bit more work., I really think I need my monitor / video card calibrated properly., I did some work on that last night, as my yellows were way off.

I do have the spider 2, but I will be danged if I can figure out how to use it!!

    take care, thanks again.
