Taken a while back in Scotland and boy can these birds move fast!

The 'perch' is real, and attached to an old Pine tree, the lichen illustrates just how clean the air is. The BKD is an old Pine forest about 100m away offering a lovely BKG IMHO.

Appreciate the comments & feedback on the previous posting

Stunning Steve! Love the comp, bird & perch very crisp, well exposed, pines gives nice clear BG. What was your metering mode?

This is as close at it gets to perfection to me in terms of clarity of an image overall, a super-sharp subject, great crop, good exposure, and to top it all-this beautiful little bird I have not seen before!

...would also like to know the metering mode, please!

    Kind regards

    Gabriela

Hi Andre & Gabriela, I'm petty sure it was Evaluated for this.

Thanks for swinging by, appreciate the feedback. If you have the time, browse through the Forum as there are some excellent images, but more importantly a lot of good advice based on experience and knowledge. Great also to see you participating too, it makes for a fun place.

Super species, very well photographed with lots of nice details. Perfect subtle head turn towards us. You are right, those pines did offer you a beautiful BG! I do wish you had pointed your lens a bit more to the right (I say this not knowing was just beyond the frame though...) and perhaps a bit of fill-flash would have helped with the dark bottom part of the perch.

Sharp and nicely composed on an interesting perch, super smooth backdrop, more eye contact with the camera would be a slight improvement I think, but overall very very good

Lovely capture with super details, Steve. Love all the vegetation on the moss and that killer BG. While this comp works quite well, I think it would be an even more powerful image if the bird were placed more to the left of the frame.
