    Hi All,

This is my first post on this wonderful site.

A Common Kestrel - Female from my hometown Bangalore. These are very co-operative during their winter visit to our part of the world.
    Canon 450D + Sigma 150-500. EXIF : F 6.3, ISO 400, SS 1/250 @ 500mm, shot vertical . Cropped ( about 20%), USM & levels adjustment.

All kinds of feedback are much appreciated.

Welcome Girish. This is a great photo. The back ground is great and the bird is sharp with lots of wing detail. I love the head angle...almost Owl like.

    A wonderful first post.
    Welcome!
Excellent IQ and light. I like the catchlight in the eye.
The perch is very complimentary as well.

Welcome Girish and excellent first post.

Amazing BG, perch and that hear turn is something I've never seen before.

    Hi Girish, great opening image.

Nicely processed and in parts with understanding and a gentle hand, a great start.

Beautiful and different image. Fantastic head turn (an owl hybrid?) and beautiful perch. It seems a little flat -- I'd try boosting contrast a bit, especially bringing down the black point. That will give a boost to saturation, as a bonus.

Girish, welcome to BPN and a wonderful first post. The kestrel is sharp, the perch is lovely, and the background is sweet. I feel the frame is a bit tight especially at the top.

That's a masterful shot for a first post. Great detail, light, perch. Love everything about it. Except for one problem -- you put the bird's head on backwards. Welcome to BPN.

Great first shot. It is amazing to me how well this raptor can turn its had backwards, just like an Owl.

Welcome to BPN Girish!! Very nice first post, tastefully processed. Nice details, great perch, and that 180 head turn is awesome! I'd warm up the WB (white balance) and perhaps experiment with lightening the shaded part of the face. There is a very tiny piece of leaf that needs to be cloned out at right edge...

Garish, I like the repost, except didn't feel that more room was needed at the top. Really beautiful light. I'm amazed how well focused all the leaves on the perch are at f/6.3 and 500mm. Awsome head turn, and beautiful feather detail.
