A lioness moves across the open plains of the Duba Island to join the rest of her pride in a near by thicket for the night always remaining within ear shot of the massive herd of buffalo that can be herd in the distance as they too bed down for the night.

    Hi Brendon

Just found the OP a little flat, so did a quick curve adjustment,,,which gives it a little 'POP'

Hi Brendon - very nice portrait with amazing eye contact. Peter's rp has taken it up a notch for me. Of course, this would also work well as a portrait crop. In both the op and rp there seems to be a strong blue cast in the area below the lioness' body.

Hi Brendon, lovely soft light and works well against such a ferocious beast. Nice light for 6.00pm.

Personally I'm not loving the position in frame, to me this is crying out for a portrait format, or to put the subject off centre. I'm quite happy with the OP as Peter's RP is just a little to contrasty and the images looses a lot of the original properties, sorry Peter, just my take. I would however drop the blue which is appearing on the rear left leg, but it's not that strong. In addition, adding two more further rounds of light USM to the head I think brings it up a treat.

Thanks very much guys for the kind comments and advice, i have made a few adjustments as mentioned, added a little more punch in curves but still trying to keep it a little soft too which is more reflective of the light at the time. Got rid of the blue cast i hope, and added a little more selective sharpening.

That's a lot better Brendon, although you can still push the Blue a bit more IMHO.

Appreciate participating in other threads too.

That's better, invoice in the post. It's subtle, but I think it makes a difference, WDYT?

Looks like I got here after all the discussion! Great learning going from image to image. Those blues were indeed subtle but the final post is great! Love the head-on view with her eyes looking up and the soft colors of the grasses.

I like the intense look of the lion and the soft light. I don't see the blue cast until Rachael said it and the RP looks great. tFS.

Lovely angle here...I'm okay with the central position, might take slivers off the side but having it portrait would make it feel cramped for me.
Last repost takes the cake, Mr Cremer!
