From back yard set up using a suet feeder. Image processing with ACR, CS5, Nik Color Efex Pro, Topaz DeNoise on BG. Did some minor clean up on the bill and on the perch, otherwise no changes were made.

Thanks, I was shooting from inside my basement in a dark room with the door open.

    This is very nice.
Love the BG and the perch.
Great view of the feet and the exposure is spot on for the blacks and the whites.
Can I come and play at your house?!

    Joel,

Wow, love that shot! Really a fan of that background. Looks like you have pretty neat set-up!

A slight head turn our way would have put it over that top.

Really nice Joel! Sharp as a tack. Beautiful BG, nice perch. Agree with Miguel--slight head turn would have put it over the top.

Way to go Joel! I can' get these things anywhere near my suet. As you know a little better head turn would have been perfect, the exposure and perch and BG are very good. This is one of the finer PWP images I have seen.

    This is very nice Joel.

Love the BG, great exposure on the blacks and whites and yes maybe a slight head turn would have been nice.

Head angle noted, but I love the "rich" and dark mood to the image. Nifty perch for this species! Do you have more details to pull out from the neck's whites?

Great Pileated shot. I like the perch and artistic comp. Yes to the head turn, but a fine capture. I wish I could get them to come to my feeder.
