I love how the bird stands out from the subdued but descriptive environment. Both are lovely elements!

(How can a bird this pretty be "common"?)

This is a beautiful image, Karl. The reeds support it very well. Perfect!

The niftiest thing about this picture is that it looks like your friend has a ghost hand! It's a crazy effect, it really is!

    Karl,

Very well executed with an excellent pose and marvelous background. Really digging the texture and color of that bg!

Also, just noticed the "ghost" foot mentioned by Jack. Funny!

Haha, didn't see the "ghost foot" until it was pointed out. Beautifully done again, great vertical composition with the vertical perches. Subject is gorgeous.

This is very well done. The bg is awesome and the little bird looks great, fine yellows. I don't know if I would have noticed the "ghost foot" had Jack not mentioned it, that is very neat.

    Terrific shot Karl.
I really like the curved perch, great pose, and excellent comp.
    That floating foot is crazy.
    Well done.

I like the comp, pose, colours, subtle but evident habitat. I would just have preferred a less vertical stem at right, but that is what you had and the image still looks very nice anyhow.
