    Default Black-and-white Warbler On Velvet.

First it was a thorny perch, now here is a velvety one...a young sumac. This guy was quite the willing subject!

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/1000s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, FF, usual eye work, a small silk web strand running across the left half of the frame cloned out, lower part of perch darkened via burn tool. Audio.

What a terrific image, Daniel. My favorite part of this image are the vegetation above and the peach fuzz all over the perch! The pose works perfectly with the vegetation. You are killing it with that new lens!!!

    Daniel:

I have always liked sumac as a perch, detailed and interesting without overpowering the subject.

The veg. at the top does add a nice framing element. In a perfect world, might prefer not to clip the leaves at the frame edge, but you often have to crop it somewhere!

the bird itself is very nice, sharp, well exposed.

    Cheers

Wow! The velvety stem, leaves at the top, position of the bird, bg, exposure, all make up an excellent image.

Great shot and overall scene. The perch is nice and the leaf above adds allot to this. Solid techs and a smooth BG make for a very pleasing image. Nice looking subject too.

Beautiful. Love the sumac perch. Great even toned lighting. Pose/perch fit perfectly in this vertical composition.

Another thumbs up from me I like the pose and the perch with the leaves forming an umberella. I planted a sumac (we call them staghorn over here) last year so I must try to emulate!!

I love the elegance of these little warblers, and you've caught this one in a perfect pose. Not to mention the perfect perch and bg. And sharpness. Gotta love that lens.
