These guys are fairly common, and I normally dont take the shots. In this, I quite liked the flight pose, so decided to process and post it. Taken early morning at my local pond in Pretoria. The BG is water.

    Pretty much full frame.

Very nice Stuart. It might be a common species for you but its a new one for me and its very unique. Looks like something that the Egyptians used on their hieroglyphics.
The exposure looks great and the detail in the whites looks very nice. I love the black trim on the feathers and the pose and catch light round off a great capture.

This may be common to you, but exotic to me.
The black trim is awesome and the flight pose ideal.
I might lighten the face a bit.

The best I have seen of this species Stu, what a great pose, light is also excellent and love the dark BG, it makes this bird pop so nicely.

    Wonderful shot.
Excellent flight pose, exposed very well, and excellent details.
The head to me looks a tad dark, but not a big deal.
    Very well done.

A visually striking image with the blacks and whites like this. Beautiful blue BG to set the subject off (I may consider extending that blue all the way to the top). Very nice!

Excellent details and sharpness in the white, Stuart. The close wing looks great. The head and beak are on the dark side, but probably it is the right colour.

WOW Stuart! This is one of your best images yet.
The IQ and the exposure on the blacks and whites are perfect.
The wing position couldn't be nicer and that catchlight is perfect.
Well done my friend. If this isn't for a competition I agree with Daniel about extending the blue to the top.
