    Default Another Skimmer

Here is another skimmer taken in Marco Island. It was neat to watch them, as one or two would (for no apparent reason) take off, circle around the group, and then land in a different spot. Once I got the hang of the usual flight pattern, it made it pretty easy to track for in flight captures.

Here you see one on approach to land. I left the skimmers in the bg as they didn't interfere (intersect) with the main flying one. Thoughts on keeping them? Or removing them to make the bg a bit cleaner?

In CS6, I cleaned up the foreground a bit. Otherwise, just a slight crop to make it 16:9.

    Shooting Info:
    Nikon D800 | 500 f/4
    1/1600 | f/8 | ISO 200

Miguel, good image, skimmer is sharp. Do you have more room on top? I would give it a bit more room on top and take just a tad off the bottom. I like the inclusion of the other skimmers.

I like the OOF birds, open beak, wing position and composition. Maybe a sliver more up top. Well done Miguel!

Yep, I've got the room. I chose this crop based on his flight direction, but will take a look at a crop with a tad more room on top and a little less below. Thanks!

I would add to the top and take a tad off the bottom.
I usually don't like oof BG birds, but the perspective makes this work for me.
The main character is very sharp.

The inclusion of the (well-placed) out-of-focus birds is a fine idea. As is, I think it's an artful look at a beautiful species! If you remove the o.o.f. birds you'll have a pleasant, but standard, look at a skimmer flying towards us...

    Wonderful shot!!
    Love flight pose and angle.
Exposed very well, love the open beak, and don't mind the oof birds.
    Very well done.

I agree witht he crop advice, but a wonderful low-angle image of a flying skimmer. Definitely keep the OOF skimmers....

I just got home from a Skimmer shoot and can say this is a keeper. Nice flight angle, calling pose, detail and definitely keep the birds in the BG. Like the whole scene. Well done
