Default Burrowing Owl giving me the eye!

This female was protecting her burrow from me, but she desensitized quickly to my presence. These are typical New Mexico colors when photographing burrowing owls. I love the eye contact in this photo.

Canon 1D Mark III, 500mm + 1.4x, f/9, 1/500, ISO 800, +2/3 EV, no flash, monopod, sitting on some prickly stuff!

I do like the eye contact, Doug. She looks pretty aggressive. As must time as I've spent in New Mexico, I've never found the burrowing owls.

Awesome picture, they eyes really pop between the soft colors on the rest of the picture.

Love that stare, Doug. She looks like she has bad intentions! I like the OOF fore- and background here - the image would be pretty busy otherwise in this habitat.

The eyes really jump out at you Doug...very nice. Your attention is drawn instantly to those eyes and they really coimmand the image. Great job.

Love the staring eyes. The oof background and foreground frame the bird well.

I think the OOF FG & BG is what puts this one over the top! Really draws you in. Very nicely done.

You did a great job handling the busy area around the owl. It is definitely typical of NM! I like the intense stare... she has you in her sights. I hope that prickly stuff didn't get you.
