    Default Monitor Lizard

Here is a Monitor Lizard from Bandipur, India. It was difficult locking focus on the subject because of the thick vegetation that it was crawling through.

Had to save the image at quality '7' in photoshop to get it below the 200kb.

Hi Angad, nice to see a different species and good to get a low perspective on this, it makes a big difference.

For me it looks a little lost within frame so providing the IQ is there, try a crop 16 x 9. Not sure why I keep suggesting this, I just like it oppose to a pano. If you come from the LHS just above the leave at the foot of the image across to and including the brightest stem on the RHS. This I would clone out, likewise the thinner stem too. Apply several rounds of USM to the head only, as you have movement in the front claw, job done!

Regarding the sizing it has been 250kb not 200KB, however we have recently changed the KB & overall sizing and an official announcement will be made soon. If you follow the steps in the Sticky at the top of the Wildlife page - Saving for Web this should help you.

Appreciate you interacting on other threads, great.

Hi Angad - nice to see something different and Steve has already covered the key points. I agree that the head needs more sharpening. In addition to the save for web stick there is all a sticky at the top with some sharpening for web actions.

Meant to add, I would also desaturate the Red overall.

Lovely image, shows the Monitor in its environment, all I would do is crop it a bit more (I would actually try a pano) and sharpen the head of the subject. Great sighting!

    Kind regards

Nice low angle and composition here, Angad! I would also, further to the suggestions above, dodge the shadows and midtones on the face slightly to make it stand out more...
