Default Color reproduction on IOS devices

    Hi,

A colleague sent a picture of a Vermillion Flycatcher to a Yahoo Group I belong to, Birds-Pix. The group is set to send the posts, with file attachments, as e-mails to members. He pointed out that when opening the attachment using his browser on a Macbook Pro, the reds are bright, vibrant and well exposed, but when he opens it on his Ipad and Iphone, they become a dull washed-out orange. He asked me to check it out, and I found the same problem. It looks fine in Firefox and Safari, but poor on my IOS devices. He asked me why that would be, and as I have no idea, I have asked the question here, in case somebody knows. I don't know what color space he used for taking the picture or saving it, but I could ask him if that's important.

    Thank, Richard

most likely the file does not have a correct embedded profile. he needs to open the file in something like photoshop and then save it with sRGB color profile.

I think Arash is correct both Safari and Firefox are color managed browsers and are able to properly reproduce images in other color spaces while the IOS devices would be guessing at the colors if they are not in the sRGB color space.

    Thanks,

I thought that might be the case and I have forwarded this on to the OP.
