I posted a version of this image several years ago, but is often the case, see it slightly differently now, so thought a repost was appropriate for this special day.

    Northern Michigan

D700 600VR with TC14 f/5.6 1/250s ISO 800 Pedestal mounted in the bottom of my little boat.

Post: Crop for comp, cleaned a few highlights from the water, selective sharpening

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

Only a month till I am back up north with the loons!

It doesn't get much better than this Randy. The light helps you nail the exposure, and the poses and eye contact are superb. Excellent detail and some pretty green water are the icing on the cake. What's different about this version?

Excellent eye contact with both. Nice pose, head turn and I like the little water droplets just below the lower madible of the adult, Randy.

A photo like this is on my bucket list.
Loons are not frequent up close visitors where I live.
This is really sweet, Randy, beautiful and full of warmth.

Very nice, very motherly image and most apt for Mothers day, sharp an dwell exposed as usual, the little one looks so comfy there and especially like the eye on the parent as it looks to be keeping both an eye on the camera and the babe at the same time

Thanks everyone for your input. Much appreciated.

Doug - the original version had more room below (fairly week reflection) and was a bit darker.

    Cheers

As you can see a D700 is a very capable camera in the right hands. This is a gorgeous shot and fits the Mother's Day theme perfectly.

Superb, Randy.... doesn't get much better than this! You captured the moment perfectly.
Best wishes for a successful "Loon Season" this year.
BTW...Loons went "on nest" today here. (Looked like they were working on it over the weekend, even thru all the SNOW!)
