Hello to everyone!
Hello! I guess I should have made a post here first but I guess I am not to bright sometimes! LOL I have been lurking in the shadows for a while now and decided to come out into the light. I am just a shooter...I have been shooting since 1998...It took awhile for me to let go of film...but when I finally did make the switch it was more than expecting... but good in a way...especially with having to learn my own PP...I am always trying to keep my mind active. Luckily I found BPN and started gleaning PP information and such and I have seen a major improvement in my shooting and keepers...so a big thanks...to all of you! Looking forward to being more apart of the community and participating more...and at some point get the courage to post some of my own work. ;)

Hello Michael and a big, warm welcome to BPN. I see you are from New England. I am originally from MA but have been in Florida for many years. Glad you finally came out the "lurking" mode and that you are able to glean a lot of information from BPN. Looking forward to seeing your images posted. Feel free to post one in the Eager to Learn Forum. Your images will always be warmly received.

Hi Marina and Thank You for the welcome! I am "currently" in Maine...but I am originally from Texas...looking forward to when I can move back south in 4 years when my youngest graduates. I know MA very well...lived there and on the border in VT for 22 years. I want to post images but I read if you post pictures online insurance companies consider you a Professional and will not cover your equipment if anything happens...I am in no way a professional. LOL I am just a shooter who likes to "try" and make a decent image for others to enjoy or see something they may never get a chance to, in real life. I do not want to be famous or have any claim to fame...just want to shoot and live each day as it may be the last....tomorrow is promised to no one! ;) Thanx again and have a good one!

I don't know what kind of insurance you have, Michael, but it doesn't sound right. Most of the photographers on this site are NOT professional photographers and most of us have insurance in some form or another and have no clause about not posting our images. What type of insurance and through what company do you have b/c that doesn't sound right AT ALL!

Thanks for the information, Marina! I have not been told this by anyone...I just "read" about it on some other popular forum...I do not post online due to this...I also read where a guy had a 500mm lens stolen and when they found out he was posting images on FLICKR...they considered him a "pro" and would not cover it...even though he was not and you could see in his photos he was not. >>>Again<<< just something I read...may be more to it than the poster wanted to say...I don't know.I always thought you had to be paid for your work to be a considered a pro. I just never wanted to take the chance. I have a lot of equipment...most of it was a gifts/inheritance from my mother, and my daughter and some insurance money from a life threatening accident. So I was not taking any chances. ;) I rarely open accounts and post but I really wanted to here as I have learned so much from just reading and lurking...I have always been the kind to...Look, Listen and Learn, I feel I may learn more by actually joining in and asking questions. Oh BTW... I have State Farm Renters Insurance. One question: I am not sure where to post it but...HOW do you do paragraph, sentence breaks one here? I hit enter and nothing happens but I see others do it. LOL Thanx again and Have a good one!

Hi Michael:
I have always just pushed the "enter" button for paragraph breaks with no problem. Not sure what the issue is.
Have you read your State Farm policy as it refers to the photo equipment? I would so so if I were you. I have never heard of a policy that does not allow you to post your images and we have had many discussions on this forum about insurance and related issues.

I guess it must be something on my end...I just upgraded to a wireless keyboard and mouse for the first time...so I guess I will have to figure it out on my end. ;) I have read it and does not say it in there...but numerous books can be written about what is "not written" in some things. LOL I have read all kinds of different posts on insurance but this is the first time I have come across an answer...as I said I have never really joined forums before. I was assured and told by our agent that as long as I was not using it professionally it would be covered under out policy.

I think you can safely post your pictures without any insurance issues, Michael, and I'll look forward to viewing them!!

Thank you Daniel!
I was kind of hesitant at first but glad I decided to give it go...still not sure as to where to post to get the most feedback or help, I guess that will come with time and learning the ins/outs of the place.
I do enjoy seeing the great images on here!
Thanx again

Hi Michael and a big welcome. I too switched from film and find there is always so much more too learn but so worth taking the time to . I have learned so much since joining BPN and my photography has improved immensely. I hope you like it here and keep an open mind to suggestions and critiques as I feel we can all benefit from that mindset. Looking forward to your posts

Hi Cheryl and Thank you for the welcome! I almost went back into hiding after reading some critiques, not on mine, but was worried mine would get some bad critiques. As Chris C, a new friend I made on here and can relate to, knows, I kind of lost my confidence and so on due to things from my past and now that I just turned 50, I am realizing time is not on my side anymore and with health issues, it could even be shorter than I hope/want.
So...
Time to get out and see and do what I can and, other than being with my children and grandson, this is what I enjoy! ;)
I am learning...you cant please everyone!
Thanks again!
