Went to the Canadian Raptor Conservatory to shoot some raptors. This shot was taken under diffused light, but still not great light. Settings: D300S, 300mm f2.8, 1/125 sec at f4, ISO 200.[IMG][/IMG]
I like the spread wing/tail pose, modest sized perch, soft bg.
The color balance is very cool and I believe it would display better warmed up a bit. The image is also a bit dark, so exposure could be bumped up a bit.
Because of his gaze, if you have a bit more room below, I believe that would make for a stronger comp.
Remarks from everyone are spot on. I really like the timing of the capture but wish for more light. I think you could have raised the ISO quite a bit, buying some more SS and a brighter image. Maybe next time?
Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I see that the green background is a little oversaturated. This happens when I put it on Flickr. The original in lightroom is more toned down.
Hi Karl, Yes we are neighbours. I have seen your great shots on the Nature's best forum as well. Always look forward to seeing them there and now here. Cheers. Len
