I was just shooting some of these guys a few days ago and I was amazed at how beautiful they are in breeding plumage and how much they change. Two months ago this guy looked totally different without any color.
Nice shot with great color and details. Very nice and unique water reflection color and I like the delicate pose. Nice work.

Hi John, a species I cant remember seeing at all. Super pose and HA, and well placed in the frame. I really like the various colours on this fellow, especially on the head, and a red eye to round it off. The grebe is nice and sharp too.

Great capture John. Love the colors of the bird and the reflections in the water.

Beautiful full breeding plumage, nice head turn and reflection. Lower angle would have been better if it was possible, John.

Thanks for the feed back everyone.

Karl - I agree it would have been better with a lower angle - during this particular session, the grebes were in an area where it was impossible to get any lower with marsh grasses. But, I shall be back. Thanks for looking in.

Best Horned Grebe image I've ever seen..... complementary colors and comp are excellent. (ID'd my first one this year.... was really surprised at how small they are!)
