    Default Starling in flight...

    Attached Images Attached Images

I spent some time recently trying to record the Starling activity in my back garden.

With the high ISO capability of modern cameras it has opened up some possibilities to take this type of image, without the need for flash.

    Canon 1DX, 400mm, f9, 1/3200, ISO2500

    C&C most welcome.

    Cheers

    Austin

    Hi Austin,
    This is a wonderful shot.
It is wonderfully sharp and the blacks and the iridescence are exposed for perfectly.
I am not crazy about the BG color and wish for a better wings down position. (or just a better near wing position as the far wing with the curved wingtips is pleasing to the eye.)
I would still be thrilled to have this in my files.

Impressive shot here, nice sharp head in focus and the inflight is nice to see
I may be tempted to add a bit of canvas to the left side ,

Lovely shot of a 'common' bird, I do not recall seeing such a shot. I always like to see shots of 'garden' birds that we become familiar with and too often dismiss. Nice

A bird totally despised here sadly but such amazing colors on them as this image displays, I'm thinking a young bird with the color so intense. Sharp where is needs be and lovely smooth backdrop....maybe add a little more canvas on the left

    Austin,

Not sure how you managed to get this guy in focus when in flight, but nicely done!

A bit of room all around for me, or at least to the left and bottom.

Nicely caught Austin, I like the composition I have slight reservation over the saturation and or contrast on the bird, the colours look a little heavy to me, not a great deal I hasten to add.............. I have just checked the histogram and there is some clipping at both ends, easily fixed.

I don't really care about the wing position, I just really like the sharpness of the rest of the bird and the flight pose.
    Very nice!
