Amazing that both birds are so sharp at an aperture of 6.3
I like the environment in this shot as well.
I am not sure about the squarish crop and would love to see this as a vertical,

I have seen some lovely images of this cute pair lately, and this one is no different. Seeing those feet so up close and detailed is amazing, as is the light. Their color against that green BG is awesome. The OP works well for me. I wonder whether you took any verticals as well while you were out there.
This is so cute! Love the double matching pose, and all the green surroundings. Those wrapped feet are something else. I like the OP better too (I actually like that tan reed balancing the comp with the subjects), but I would have liked perhaps about double the current amount of space behind the front bird's back.
What a special encounter! I've only seen one bittern before--right as it flew off. I like the OP. I agree that the environment adds rather than takes away here. I don't know quite what to say about those toenails!

I vote with Daniel on this one -- the brown reeds pick up the colors of the twins, which are spectacular anyway -- just icing on the cake.
