    Default Smoky Mountain Sunset

It seems a little slow lately. I processed another image taken at Clingman's Dome in the Smoky Mountains just before sunset. Went with a 16x9 crop this time.

    Canon 5D3
    70-200 II @ 85mm
    1/500
    f9
    ISO 100
Tripod, 2 stop GND, luminosity mask, LCE, curves, selective burning and color adjustments and sharpened in CS6.

    C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

    Rachel

I like the layers and misty scene here, Rachel.
Initially I thought I'd like to bring up shadow detail some more but the more I looked the more I liked it as is.

Hi Rachel, I just love all those layered mountains, especially the main foreground mountain and the way you have framed it so that it is not merging with the distant layers. Lovely work!

    Hi Rachel,

love this one with the layers. Great done in all. Just one slight thing, the clouds on the LHS are sharper, but the RHS are not that much! Just wondering!
Overall I might add another round contrast, just to see. I did in PS, was very nice. But that is a matter of taste of course

    Have a great day

    Ciao
    Anette

Stunning work Rachel, also love the layers and darker FG. I wouldn't change a thing.

Very nice one, Rachel! Great depth, and the nearly blocked out FG range works well for me. This sort of image needs little detail in the ranges - separation by tone does the job.

Thanks all for the very kind comments. I'm glad you like it. I was a little nervous I had completely misjudged this one when there were no comments for the first couple of days.

    Thanks again,
    Rachel

Hi rachel, the layering mountains gives a lovely feel to it and I really like the tonal range in the blues. Would be interesting to see what it would look like if you did lift the FG, but not much. Would also tweak the Levels to around 237, at this point the whites will blow :-) Good call on the 16 x 9 should TM that, LOL.

Thanks Steve, will take a look at your suggestions. By the way, I do think of 16x9 as Steve's crop.
