Taken during Mike Milicia's Piping Plovers and Least Terns workshop last June on the MA coastline. It looked like this little one has tasted something not so appetizing and was spitting it out, or at least the sand part.
My shutter speed was high as these Piping Plover chicks are fast and I was trying to get them running. I was lying flat on my belly using the Skimmer Pod.
Thanks so much in advance for any comments and critiques.
Absolutely adorable chick here Melissa! Perfect low POV, very intimate shot with the chick here. Would've preferred if you were shifted a little to your left for a better sun angle as well as head angle. Otherwise a mighty fine image.
This is a terrific shot Melissa.
Great IQ and the POV and low angle are topnotch.
The flying bits of sand make this a unique shot.
You have managed to make the chick nice and sharp but still retain the fuzziness,
Gail
Thanks everyone for your feedback. So glad I was able to get the right balance on the sharpness, that was my main concern. Did not want to compromise the fluff factor!
Nice job Melissa. The chick looks nice and sharp and I love the low angle you got. The sand in the air looks great and the BG looks nice and smooth. Yes, you didnt loses the fluff factor:) Well done.
How cute! The low angle and light angle both work well, and of course the spittin' out behaviour is entertaining. I'm wondering if you could darkn the blacks and darks a bit more, but all else look fantastic...
Lovely image all around. Love the low angle and the details in those feathers...yet still the little puffball! The eye and flying sand really make it work also.
