    Default Australian Ringneck

This beautiful species of parrot is quite common in the interior of Australia, but hard to get a great image of...
Perch isn't the best, but I quite liked the red hills in the b/g.
    Cassia Hill (NT), D800, 300 2.8, 1.7TC, f7.1, 1/500, ISO 800, -1/3EC.
    Thanks, Greg.

What a beautiful subject! BG is great. I'd crop a little from the left and sharpen the bird's head a little more.

Terrific colours on this beautiful bird and a gorgeous BG. I agree the perch is not the best but it is not as bad as I thought it would be from the small thumbnail. I like the aspect ration of the comp so I would be hesitant to crop at left unless going for a 8 x 10 (or equivalent). I would however darken the pupil and /or very subtly lighten the iris.

I too like the bg and the blues really pop against it.

Greg what a wonderful bird you have here, fantastic colors
i would not change anything in this
the color pattern on the head may make it look bit softer than the other body , i am not sure

I dont mind the perch here. really. Nothing is obstructing our view of the bird...and oh boy...what a beautiful bird it is. loved the BG too. Liked the composition as well.

my only issue is that the head seems a bit soft.

    Hi Greg

If this was a Ringneck from Western Australia I would say I think there is a blue cast on the bird...Ours seem to be a much deeper green than this. I am assuming you are happy with the colour as posted so therefore can I assume it would be just local variation in colour..? Love the BG. Unfortunately my sightings of these locally are becoming less and less frequent..
