Default Burrowing Owl- Straight at You

    Attached Images Attached Images

Captured this last spring at my local owl spot. These owls got very used to my truck after months of hanging out with them. When the owlets emerged from their burrow for the first times, there I was. This one saw a bug under the shade of my truck and for a second I thought it was going to fly right thru the cab. You can see the dirt burrow that he left from in the BG.

Thanks as always for looking and for your input. Appreciated.

    Hey David,
I have been a "fan" of yours for sometime now, and this is one wonderful capture. The clarity and detail here is amazing and the smallest blur at the wingtips sets this in motion. what a delight tis is...

I love the incoming pose and those big eyes! looks super
there are some sharpening halos (below the body and around the wings) and overall a bit over sharpened. There is evidence of cloning in the BG below the wings... it will look even better when you fix these issues.

    great dynamic capture

He was really coming straight at you! Look at those eyes and the catch light in both. Love the sharpness, details, and wing position. Loi

Hi David, fantastic head on capture here, love those eyes, and the owl pops so well from the BG. I do like the wing position, and the complimentary colour to the BG. If this were mine, I would have placed him centrally in the frame.

When photographing at my local nature reserve, my car serves as a perfect hide/blind, so I can relate to your position in this.

Definitely an attention grabber! What a dynamic capture. Catching birds straight-on is always very challenging. Arash has some good points. Great job!

Awesome image, David. Getting burrowing owls in flight is not easy, and getting an owl coming at you is extra hard! Agree that it looks just a touch oversharpened.

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions. Appreciated.
I normally get comments about adding a little sharpening, first one about too much, so I now know were my limits are. Thanks.

Wonderful image David, i love the one flying in image of the Owl
The eyes are wonderful and the wing position is fantastic
I do notice some small clone stamping which is noticeable below the bird, can be fixed easily , however this can only be my eyes looking odd at this time of the night

What a beautiful bird with cracking eyes, I love the way the bird is flying directly at you. Good sharp detail on the Owl and the background is nicely OOF David.
