This is another shot of the local Sand hill Crane chick. I wanted to capture an image thru the grasses and hopeful get lucky with the wildflowers to show the size of the chicks and portray them in natural habitat. The challenge was to show a clear face thru all the greens.

    Cheryl:

A beautifully crafted image, very soft, impressionistic, while maintaining good sharpness on the face. The flowers on the right work very well, might prefer the OOF ones not be there at the rump, but minor point.

    Well envisioned and executed, congrats.

    Cheers

Very lovely littler bird, light and the OOF grass makes the image even better!

Very painterly image, Cheryl. Full of details where it needs to be and love the effect of the flowers and soft BG.

    Cheryl,

Isn't it nice when we have a shot in mind and are able to execute it. Great positioning, and it looks like you were at just the right height to get a clear shot. Love the soft look of it, yet still see that focus was spot on. Not sure I'd change a thing.

Is this a portrait crop from landscape orientation or did you have the foresight to take it in portrait mode? I never do!

Gorgeous!! What would you think about cropping a little off the top? The brighter greens there pull my eye away from the lovely subject and the rest of its beautiful setting.

Hi Miguel, No I'm not always totally on my game either. This was cropped to vertical

Hi Cheryl, love the setting, and how you have captured the chick seemingly peering over the grasses. Great detail and sharpness on the head. Well thought out.

I love the gentle light which is suited to this baby bird. The background is nicely OOF and has an interesting pattern to it. This is a work of art Cheryl.
