Default Great Horned Owl Family Portrait.

Photographed almost two weeks ago now, and I have not had the chance to revisit this local nest again...but hoping to go back within the next week or so. I got pretty lucky that all three looked towards me for a split second here as this was not a very common occurence at the time I was there.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4 TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/200s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld (lens and left arm braced to a tree trunk), original vertical cropped to about 70% FF, the left side has been retouched to bring in some BG colours from another frame.

look at those eyes, owls nest is always challenging with steep angles but you managed a good direct eye contact. I just wish the broken branch was not there but man the eye contact from the juvis is priceless

Very nice eye contact, if you have the IQ, I would crop to just beneath the branch.

Wonderful, as always! I think the suggested crop would make the birds even more prominent.

Very nice. Gotta love owls. i like the crop just fine, gives a feeling of height. Image seems light, but that may be my monitor, and I'd get rid of the partial branch in bottom left of frame.

Yesterday when i commented there was something that didnt feel right to the eye so decided to revisit this with a break ,

The image look like taken at a big gradient vertically up, and the long tree elongates that angle more, i would wish to see a version up to the stump and a bit more room over the head, this may reduce the feel of the steep angle IMO.
This is a fast version of it however you may have the better IQ to process it far nicer
