Although it didn't make it all the way to the Smithsonian, This image was chosen Highly Honored and published in this past Nature's Best edition in the Zoos and Aquariums category. It was a huge honor to me and something I am pretty excited about. Shot a few years back at Lowry park Zoo Tampa FL

Huge congratulations on the Nature's Best nod, Cheryl. I really felt as though this image was going to the Smithsonian and sorry to hear that it wasn't. Next year!

This image is so powerful. It tells such a great story. I simply love the affection between the two. The baby's hand inside it's mother's hand is just priceless. You really framed this image very nicely.

Stunning image, details, colour and exposure all works for me. A really fantastic image. If i have to find something to improve on, it would be to have the whole of the mothers hand in the frame.

Well Cheryl, this certainly is a real corker and sets the benchmark for cuteness.

Can't really comment on the image as such (am away shooting, sigh of relief say Cheryl ), but my only though was to have had the whole hand in shot. Very easy to say when viewing and not so when shooting.

Big, big congrats on this, a very impressive, and powerful image!!!!

Oh this is cuteness overload, Cheryl!
Love how the baby is framed by an all-ape frame...ditto Steve on the hand but you can't have it all. Congrats on the accolades! I was in the finals last year in NB but bombed out...

Big time congrats!! This is outstanding and as everyone has mentioned, the two hands are fabulous. Also that thumb in the mouth and those eyes!

Cute shot, brought a smile. The alignment of the hands is perfect for me and all lead back to that face. Always wonder what one of these guys would look like with the hair on the top of the head groomed and combed back like a human.
