I really miss these guys. They were fairly common growing up in Iowa, but they are seldom seen there now, and are quite uncommon in Michigan where I live.

Very dressy birds. Sharp, well exposed. I might consider a very slight trim off the top.

What a terrific capture of this gorgeous woodpecker! Wish it were mine. There are a couple of things I would do to bring it up another notch. I would take a tad off of the top as Randy suggests, just past the white "blob." Then I would take a tad off of the right to compensate. I would also consider sharpening the head feathers just a tad more, and sharpening the perch. The perch is an integral part of this image. It has a lot of texture and character. I would like to see it sharper. Well done!

Nice image, the BG is fantastic, and the HA is good too, you have nice suggestions above which will make it go over the top

Beautiful capture! I had one show up in my yard a couple of years ago, just for a few hours, and never since. Does anyone else find the catchlight a bit too much? Seems to dominate the eye. Nice work.
