My first image to BPN. The color of the bird is enhanced by the visible bright red head, this makes this picture unique. Bundala Nature Park, Sri Lanka.

Nikon D 800 + 500mm f/4 + 1.4 TC , Aperture Priority, 1/640 F/6.3 ISO 500 , Bean bag from vehicle, Cropped for composition ( picture is 85% of FF) PS right side bottom small plant removed from water, Levels adjusted, NR and sharpened.

All C&C's are welcome and appreciated.

    Thanks

Hi Satish, thank you for your comments ! Yes did try vertical composition and looks good in fact better as there is more color in a limited area. Will keep it mind !

I like the raised foot, reflection and setting. I see this as a vertical as well. I also see a smudge area above the back in the reflection that I would fix. Welcome to BPN and look forward to seeing more.

Hi Hiran, welcome to BPN!! I love the huge foot this guy has. I'm also liking the short vegetation popping out of the water. I'm OK with the comp, I just wish there was more colour to the bottom half of the frame. I would also try to enhance the eye as I'd love a catchlight or rflection on there (is the iris red on this species?). Looking forward to more....

Hi Jim, thank you for your comments. I did not see the smudge area over the back in the reflection until you mentioned it. will correct it.

Hi Daniel, from your comments very encouraging to note that I have got it okay. Did correct the reflection to look slightly darker and the opened the eye to make it look brighter and the bird stands out very nicely. The iris is red you are correct. I intend to post more, Thank you.
