It's a beauty Jack. Love everything about it. Sharp, great pose and head angle, and the perch is terrific. Nicely done.

Nice shot, only thing missing is the catch light. Not sure if your flash hit the subject at all.

Great setup as usual and superb subject.
The light is good enough, no catchlight is needed for me.
Maybe just a tad over sharpened?
    Very nice colors!

Wow i love the way the bird is sitting on the perch, the cover of lichen on the perch makes it very special, i like the colors on the bird very nicely exposed.
The eye has come out nice and clear, i love that part of it a lot.
In case you have some real estate to the right i may be tempted to add it , just to my eye the bird tends to look out side the frame being placed so ahead,
The key is those details on the woodpecker that you have nailed perfectly .

Nothing new to add, nice shot all around. Looks like he has a peanut in sight andis about to go for it. How do you manage to use a pop up flash and not get weird silver eyes?

Like the way this sits in the frame, the diagonal branch works nicely, nice side on profile with excellent detail. light/exposure perfect, just a very skligt halo along the upper edge of the beak. Lichen covered branch is pretty special, wishing the jagged end was a little smoother, but minor consideration considering the rest of the image is stunning

Troy and Jim, There was steel eye from the flash that I fixed, that is the reason for no catchlight, I should have added a catch light back. Thanks everyone.

Hi Jack, great use of flash, nice and subtle, as the colours look natural. I like the leaning pose looking down the perch, and against the smooth BG.

Great pose and perch for this handsome guy. Techs look perfect and the feather detail is very nice. BG looks great too and I do agree about a catch to bring it together. Well done.

Awesome pose and techs. Colours are super, and the BG perfect. Too bad about the broken off end of the perch, and when adding a catchlight I'd also enhance the red iris of the eye.

I like the pose, details, exposure, composition and BG. I wish the perch wasn't broken off. Nice image Jack.
