This is a very impressive image, Trey. If I am not mistaken, this is a fairly rare bird which can best be found in NM. You captured it beautifully, and the added environment puts it over the top for ome. I love the pine tree, the pine cones and the snow/ice. I am guessing that when you took this, the weather conditions were pretty rough.

Thanks Marina. This was at 10,400ft elevation on the edge of the mountain. The winds were blowing about 30mph, and it was COLD. Did not notice it when this bird posed for me though.

I bet you didn't, Trey. I would have been overjoyed with this image. I have birder friends who like taking side trips to this location when they go to Bosque, and they are always complaining about the conditions...but they say it's all worth it when you see the finches!

Wonderful bird captured and the composition is impressive, the details are nice on the bird
If mine i may be tempted to take a inch of the bottom of the frame to balance it out more to my eye, however its good as presented

Well done and kudos for braving the cold to get this shot, liking very much the composition with the pine tree and interesting ice forms as is the blue sky.. Bird making eye conjtact with the camera is great. I find the bottom Pine Cones a bit eye catching, maybe crop them out of the scene ?
