I had the pleasure of joining Cap'n James Gail Bisson and Nicki Gwynn Jones on a super day out on the Hooptie Deux. We had so much fun and were blessed with great light and beautiful cooperative subjects. I believe this was a juvie spoonie coming in for a visit. I was focused on a group of bathing adults farther out so I had my 2x on. I was amazed that I was able to lock on this guy and catch him coming in. This is pretty close to full frame. Thanks again James for another great time and wonderful meeting Gail and seeing Nicki again.

Terrific image, Cheryl. You had gorgeous light and pose. I like the effect your layered BG gives your image. Good for you for locking on with the 2x. You did it for a few years with the 300 F2.8 so no reason you can't lock on with the 500.

Like the RP even better b/c the bird pops just a tad more...and I like pop! Super details in all those feathers. Looks as though Steve K has put a bug in your ear.

Wonderfully captured incoming flight , i like the repost more

I guess i understand when you say you could lock on, since with that focal length its very difficult to get a incoming subject getting bigger each second . and we tend to find where to focus. I something tend to cut of the subjects in this position and hence manage a very few incoming shots.

I can only make simple suggestions, however all the hard work was done in nailing the shot.

Hi Cheryl, as you know it's all based around the BPN spirit.

My 'direction' has always been that I won't tell you exactly what to do, as that way you will never learn. All I cam do is make a suggestion in the direction or adjustment so you have to explore, but it's just my own thoughts and this is where I feel we have to 'distill' from the great feedback give here. Maybe one day I will grab a flight across 'the pond' where we can grab some folks and have some fun and exchange thoughts and learn from each other.

Hi Cheryl, I so enjoyed seeing you again and yes, we really had a lot of fun on that trip!!! Beautiful image of Baby Spoony - I believe that I was crouching right next to you and have something similar in the files - let's hope that I can process it as beautifully as you have done!! Until next time...
