Beautiful! First, what's a detail extractor? Not sure, but I almost feel the foliage is a distraction, and I'd like to see main perch toned down with more detail. Love the sharp head and fish.
Super sharp, perfect exposure, great details. Love the position of the fish tail and head, as ou said, it was pretty much alive. Wish the angle wasn't so steep, but that was not something you had control over. Do you have other shots tht show more of the fish eye?
Great capture shot. The leaves don't bother me, but the branches seem a little hot. I like the osprey's concentration on his task...he better watch out for those painful
catfish fins.
Hey Ron. Great catch for both of you. I really like the angle of the fish so the face is seen and how the talons are grasping it. My only suggestion would be to tone down the brightness a bit.
Jim: Detail extractor is a Color Efex Pro filter designed to bring up faint detail, particularly in brighter areas.
Jim, Robert, Cheryl, and Trey: Here I've darkened the bg a bit with a curve. Also corrected some bad masking on the OP, and cropped out the vertical branch on left. Look better to you?
Trey: The detail extractor works mainly on the whites, and I applied it very mildly. Possibly I was a little strong with sharpening, and have here cut it back just a bit. But I think what's catching your eye is that the feathers on the head are wet and have a strong textured look to them.
Loi: Not sure what you mean by "more of the eye". The next frame in the series shows the left eye very straight on as the fish flopped its tail down, and I may post that later tonight or tomorrow. The right eye is not visible. The two nostril-like structures above the eye are the nasal barbels, if I understand catfish anatomy correctly.
I also just noticed that the allowable file size and resolution have increased since I last posted (over a year ago), so have increased this repost accordingly.
