Another of the earlier spring arrivals, and another song that soothes the ear beginning in March...signalling the near end to winter. This was a good handholding test for the new gear and it passed with flying colours!

Canon 7D + 500mm + 1.4X TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/250s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, FF, darkened pupil (burn tool), lightened the darkest stalk via dodge tool.

What a beautiful image! The blacks, yellows and reds are perfect. The pose and the BG are awesome. Impressive with that much magnification at 1/250.

The striking thing about this image to me is the perfect composition , my eye did not look for details or any thing first I just loved the perfect placement of the components here. Super handholding image

Daniel, congrats on the new gear! Excellent details, perfect exposure, love the composition, the habitat, and the creamy BG.

Unusual but very likeable pose, nicely exposed blacks and all stands out nicely against the lighter backdrop

Great capture ,Daniel. I love the pose with the prominent red shoulder patches , the HA and the detail in the crossed over primaries.
Congrats on the new gear. Now for some gym work for hand holding !!

Well done on exposing for the blacks, Daniel, and I especially like the pose and environment.

Any plans on ever using a tripod or on selling the 100-400? :)
